2026 Application and Rules

The Scholarship Fund

The Insulation Contractors Association of NYC (“ICANYC”) has created a college/ university/ trade school scholarship fund to enhance educational opportunities for the children and grandchildren of:

• The members of International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local No.12;
• Current ICA contractor members;
• Employees of an ICA contractor member in good standing.

The Scholarship Awards

• There will be three (3) scholarship awards in the amount of $5,000 each.
• Applications and information are available on the ICA website (www.icanyc.org)
• Applications may be submitted between February 1- March 31, 2026.
• A Scholarship Committee, comprised of three representatives from ICA member companies will evaluate the applications and announce the winners on or about April 30, 2026.
• The following criteria shall be utilized in making each award: academic achievements/awards, leadership/work experience, the application essay and letters of recommendation.
  

 The deadline for submission has passed.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered

 

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship award, applicants must:

• Be entering or continuing their education at any accredited two or four-year college, university or trade school for the Fall 2026 academic year;
• Have maintained a scholastic average of at least a C for the previous academic year;
• Be the child or grandchild of a Local 12 member who has been a member in good standing of Local 12 for a minimum of one (1) year preceding the application date;
• Be the child or grandchild of a current ICA member in good standing or the child or grandchild of an employee who has been employed for at least a year by a current ICA member;
• Previous winners are eligible to submit new applications.

 

 Application Procedure

• All applications must be typed using the fillable pdf application (applications with handwritten responses will be disqualified). PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR THE APPLICATION LINK.
• Application packets must be emailed (as PDF files and not screenshots or jpgs) to the Insulation Contractors Association of New York City at info@icanyc.org
• Applications must be received by 11:59pm March 31, 2026.
• In addition to the completed 1-page application form below, your application packet must include the following as attachments to the application. Note that previously submitted essays or letters of recommendation will NOT be accepted.

1. A letter of application from the applicant addressed to the Scholarship Committee;
2. Two (2) letters of recommendation (preferably on official letterhead), signed and in writing attesting to the applicant’s scholastic ability, character, and worthiness;
3. Transcript of scholastic record for the preceding academic year;
4. An essay, not to exceed 500 words, discussing any topic that will enhance an assessment of your application, including the reason(s) for which you seek this scholarship, your interest in pursuing a career of your choice, and/or any special life circumstances;
5. List of student, extracurricular, volunteer and work activities you have participated in, and any leadership positions held;
6. List of accomplishments and awards you may have received in the community, school and/or work setting.

 

Payment of Scholarship Awards

• After reviewing the applications, the ICA Scholarship Committee will select the 2026 scholarship winners on or about April 30, 2026.
• Winners will be notified via email and by phone.
• Winners must verify that they are enrolled in the college, university, or trade school to which they have been admitted.
• Scholarship checks will be issued to the college, university or trade school and NOT to the student.
• If the scholarship recipient’s parent/ grandparent does not remain in the employ of Local 12 or the ICA, the Committee shall have the discretion to continue or discontinue the scholarship recipient’s award.
• Winners will be invited to attend the ICA’s June 2026 Membership Meeting (date TBD) to meet the ICA Executive Board and to receive their scholarship awards.
