Moving the Industry Forward

The Insulation Contractors Association is the leading management association representing commercial and industrial insulation contracts. We’re committed to advocating for our members. This arm of our organization includes negotiating contracts with Local 12 to protect your business and workers, and constantly advocating for better labor wagers, giving employers access to more workers on a jobsite at a lower wage and providing job security for journeymen.
What makes the ICA truly special as an organization is that we connect industry experts from across our region. Many of our contractors are seen as competitors on the field, but the ICA brings contractors together to advocate for the common good of the Industry.
We saw this take place most recently last spring when the ICA negotiated on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. “All hands came together,“ is how Executive Board Member Chris Grando described the experience. “It was a collaborative effort between the Local 12 and the ICA of New York.
This shared commonality for the best for the industry and region is one of the ICA’s biggest assets in moving the Industry forward. In her interview with the ICA, Karen Grando, CEO of IAR shared: “We’re involved in the negotiation of contracts and you have a format where if you are having a problem or an issue, [there’s] something you think could be improved, it’s a good way to get stuff done.”
The best part is no matter the size of your organization, you have an equal voice at the bargaining table when negotiating contracts and working together.
“Whether you’re a large contractor or small contractor…everybody has a vote and you work on problems that help everybody.” Karen shared.
The ICA is important to the growth of local contractors. Chris shared that his experience exchanging ideas with the ICA has been invaluable because they’re able to “give our ideas and to get some feedback from that.” The ICA gives contractors the space to recognize problems within the industry and bounce ideas for solutions off of each other and be creative.
“One of the greatest benefits of joining the ICA has been the knowledge I’ve gained from my competitors, President of the ICA and Owner of Hailey Insulation Corp. Donald Donelly shared with us in his video interview. “We’re all doing the same thing to a certain extent but we all do it differently and when you’re with the most elite, bright people, you can feed off of what they do well.”
Over the past year the ICA of New York welcomed new members, awarded three $5,000 scholarships, and collaborated with the Union to reach a consensus on the CBA agreement and continued to provide educational opportunities for members.
“I think we all make ourselves better contractors by learning and sharing information,” Donald Donnelly said.
