Meet Ben Chan, Purchaser for United Air

Ben Chan, is a purchaser for United Air Conditioning. United Air Conditioning is a full service HVAC contractor. United Air specializes in installing sheet metal and insulation.

United Air Conditioning works primarily with commercial clients. Clients United serves include: Turner Construction Company, Structure Tone, Aecom Tishman, and Benchmark Builders.

United Air Conditioning is currently working on projects at LaGuardia Airport, Facebook, and Google. Recently, United Air Conditioning was a part of the Little Island Pier 55 project that was built in the city. You can find United Air Conditioning working on commercial projects all over the city.

Projects United Air Conditioning usually takes on include piping for our projects controls and a whole host of mechanical services as client requires.

As Purchasing Manager, Ben’s role is following up on proposals, reviewing proposals, coordinating with the project managers, reviewing subcontracts, and reviewing contracts from the client.

“My favorite part of this job is learning about the new projects that we've been awarded, reviewing them, seeing what is getting built in the city," Ben Chan shared.  I also like being able to be the first person to really look at a job and set it up for success with my project managers.”

United works with ICA of New York on larger projects. They look to ICA of New York vendors because they can handle a lot of these larger projects more successfully.

Ben’s ideal relationship with his vendors would be, “that we're both friendly, and we're working towards having a successful project together."
