Building a Sustainable Future: Eco Thermal Contracting’s Journey in the NYC Construction Industry as a Women-Owned Business

Eco Thermal Contracting, a woman-owned business, has been making significant strides in the New York City construction industry since its inception in 2015. With a focus on sustainable practices and strong relationships, Eco Thermal Contracting has successfully navigated the challenges of the industry and secured high-profile projects.

Known for reliability, workmanship and satisfaction, Eco Thermal Contracting provides mechanical insulation and firestopping to reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs serving both residential and commercial clients.

Eco Thermal Contracting was started by Cindy Peraica in 2015. Cindy started by taking smaller jobs to build relationships and reputation. Cindy learned that building the right relationships would be key to managing growth as a start-up  in not only a competitive industry but a male-dominated industry.

The Power of Relationships

In the construction industry, relationships are paramount. Eco Thermal Contracting has understood this from the beginning, starting with smaller jobs to build trust and establish a reputation. These early connections have been instrumental in their growth and success. Relationships built through attaining their WBE (Women-Owned Business) Certification and through the Insulation Contractors Association of New York have been instrumental in the growth of Eco Thermal Contracting.

WBE Certification: A Catalyst for Opportunities

Eco Thermal Contracting's WBE (Women-Owned Business) certification has played a crucial role in opening doors and securing contracts that might otherwise have gone to competitors. As Cindy, the owner of Eco Thermal Contracting, explains, "Obtaining WBE Certification has helped us navigate through some of the struggles of being a women-owned startup in the insulation industry. It has opened opportunities to contracts that may have gone a different way."

The WBE gives Women-Owned businesses an advantage in public works projects that are looking for minority owned businesses to meet their goals. Being deemed a Certified Women Owned Business has granted Eco Thermal Contracting the opportunities to participate on contracts and open doors they may not have been able to access.

Navigating the Industry and Building Trust

The construction industry is competitive, with many established contractors. Eco Thermal Contracting has focused on demonstrating their capabilities, delivering quality work on time, and fostering strong relationships. By consistently exceeding expectations, they have earned the trust of clients and partners.

The Insulations Contractors Association has been a great resource for navigating the industry and building trust.

“We work with each other to help each other come up with better ideas. We navigate challenges without overstepping, and we honor our industry relationships while building new relationships of our own,” Cindy shared.

Notable Projects and Partnerships

Eco Thermal Contracting has been involved in several high-profile projects in New York City, including projects at La Guardia Airport, The World Trade Center, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Grand Central Terminal, and the 9/11 Memorial. These projects showcase their expertise and commitment to sustainable construction practices.

Eco Thermal Contracting's journey is a testament to the power of relationships, the value of WBE certification, and the importance of delivering quality work. As they continue to grow and expand their services, Eco Thermal Contracting remains committed to contributing to a sustainable future for New York City.
