ICA is Opportunity. Meet Cheyenne Sharpe, Mechanic Insulator for Atlantic Contracting
ICA is Opportunity.
Cheyenne Sharpe always tells her coworkers that they get paid to do “arts and crafts.”
“I’m really good with my hands so for me, it’s art class every day,” Cheyenne said.
She got her start in the industry through Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) which helped her get into the unions. Cheyenne has now been with Atlantic Contracting for seven years.
According to Cheyenne the best part of her job is figuring out problems to make the impossible possible. Each day is a chance for her to learn something new.
“At times it can be challenging to be a woman in a male-dominated industry,” according to Cheyenne.
“There’s not a lot of us but to me, some of the best insulators are women.”
But gender doesn’t matter as long as you’re willing to learn your craft and continue to get better at what you do.
“I’m just happy to be here for seven years and counting,” Cheyenne said. “I just can’t wait for more.”
